Description : “I’m drawing a car. It’s a big pick up called Tippa. I also like to draw bicycles sometimes. I don’t like to be at the hospital and I want to go home. I miss my friends. I can’t go to school when I am here, but normally I am in the 1st grade of primary school”, he says.
The ICRC started working with the Wau teaching hospital in February 2017. The ICRC has renovated the operation theatre and improved access to water at the hospital. In April, a mobile surgical team started operating on war wounded patients and emergency cases coming in from across the region. Wau teaching hospital is one of the two only remaining teaching hospitals in South Sudan and is the referral center for a large number of primary health care centers in the region.
