Description :
“I don’t know how to count, but I think I will get all of them… I guess maybe I will get 500 beans”, he says.
On the 10th and 11th of August, the ICRC distributed emergency food supply to 1000 families in the village Deim Zubeir, located in the northwest of South Sudan. This is around 6000 people. According to local authorities, the village has around 54.000 people, including around 18.000 internally displaced people. Approximately one third of the people living in Deim Zubeir are displaced from Raja, Korogana and Sopo. Many of them arrived after clashes started in Raja in June 2016. New people also arrived after clashes in Raja in April 2017. A vast majority of the internally displaced people in Deim Zubeir has already moved due to the conflict, some up to three times. They came with close to nothing and the host community is sharing the little they have. The ICRC is assisting the host community with fishing nets. The ICRC has also rehabilitated a water point in the village.
