Caption : Karachi. A learned scholar of the Quran prepares for his students to arrive. He was once a teacher at a Madrassa (a school inside a mosque). When he was denied his ID card renewal in 2013, he was fired from his job. He decided to open his own home school in one of the rooms of his mothers’ house. He teaches a total of 50 children every day for 8 hours and charges Rs.100/- ($0.8) per month since the parents (belonging to the same community) cannot afford to pay more than that.

Description : These people were Pakistanis before 1971 but became stateless when East Pakistan became Bangladesh. There are hundreds of thousands of people in the similar situation in Bangladesh (also known as Beharis) who at that time opposed the separation of East Pakistan and got stranded there ever since. Many do not have the nationality either and represent the part of the same problem which exists in both Pakistan and Bangladesh.
