Description :
After being rescued following a conflict between armed groups, she was taken to a center for displaced persons, pregnant and with no news of her husband, who had been taken away along with other men. For four long years, she lived in anguish, not knowing where he was or if he was still alive.
In 2023, she filed a tracing request with the ICRC to try to find her husband. Shortly after, as communities began returning to their areas of origin, she was able to settle in the region she had once fled. Through the Red Cross messaging service, she finally managed to reconnect with her husband. In her first letter to him, she shared the news that he had become the father of a baby boy.
Today, she lives with her family in Mocímboa. Her mother, who had also been abducted by the armed group, was located thanks to another tracing request she submitted with the help of the ICRC. Despite the hardships, she is slowly rebuilding her life alongside her loved ones.
