Description :
This playground was built under "Safe Play Area" programmes, which secure or build playgrounds and keep children away from the dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance.
This man is married, with five children. His right hand is weak due to an accident when a car bomb went off during fighting. He does construction work, but it's seasonal. In autumn and winter there is no work. Recently he received a compressor and two welding machines from the ICRC and is able to earn his living in autumn and winter making and repairing boilers and gas heaters. He started his business in June 2007. The new equipment belongs to the ICRC. If the business is successful, the equipment will be given to him in 2008. His present challenge is creating enough cash flow to be able to buy the raw materials he needs to build with. One solution is to ask clients to buy their own metal and then he builds the boiler with the materials they provide.
