Description : Holder of BA degree in fine arts, graduated from An-Najah National University in 2013, this man chose to study fine arts because he was very passionate about it. After graduation, he started looking for a job that would allow him to make use of what he learnt; he wanted to work in ceramics. While hunting for a job, he first worked as a teacher and then in a glass factory in one of the settlements near al-Ezarieh. At the time, he couldn’t start his own business because he needed two things: money and a place. So, he continued working in the settlement, awaiting a future opportunity, until his permit wouldn’t be renewed anymore. This is when he took the decision to start his business, but lack of money was still an obstacle.
He started off with a small studio in his house. He tried teaching one more time, along with many other professions, in the hopes of saving money for his project. However, applying for an ICRC grant through the Chamber of Commerce in Hebron was the turning point for him. His project was one of the top three projects to receive funding. He bought a kiln, quit all his other jobs and dedicated his time to making his project a successful one, as he had always wanted to do something he loves… something related to his studies.
Of the payoff, he bought a car since he needed one to move from one supplier to another and transport goods.
It’s fair to say that Mohammad’s life has been stable since then. His hard work on the ceramics, especially the artistic ones, has paid off very well and he looks forward to expanding his work in the upcoming period as he wants to buy a pottery wheel and a special kind of printer.
The grant has given Mohammad psychological and financial stability, both at once.
