Description : This woman did not hear news of the cyclone before it hit her village. She used to live with her youngest child, her 11-year-old daughter. After they managed to climb on a tree when the level of the water rose, she did not have the strength to hold on to her daughter who fell in the water and subsequently drowned. She stayed on the tree for three days before being found by a rescue team. A few days later, her daughter’s lifeless body was found and identified by her. “Her death is still very painful to me. The memory of her is still very vivid. I don’t have the courage to go to her grave (…). She was a very good child. She used to go to school, and she loved it”.
