Description :
This man, 53, is the leader of the community. He heard about Cyclone Idai one day prior it hit his village, but he felt it was too late to leave his home. Like many others, him, his wife and his 98-year-old mother, climbed on a tree to avoid the raging water. His exhausted mother fell from the tree after struggling for two days and eventually drowned. On the fourth day, the couple was saved by a rescue team. They also found his mother and proceeded to the burial on the same spot. He still feels great pain about the death of his mother. “It was not meant to happen like that. My mother was not sick, it was not her time to die”.
