Description : ICRC water and habitat activities in the region are also awareness and counselling on hygiene issues. After an information session organized for the community, a house by house tour is done so people can show their achievments and ask for eventual advices.

NariƱo department is among the area most affected by the conflict, where armed groups and other parties to the Colombian conflict are battling for control.
To reach the final destination of the trip, one has to pass through Barbacoas and Roberto Payan. It takes around 7 hours drive from the main city of Pasto to get to Barbacoas, included 4 hours of extremely bad road.
Roberto Payan is then reached by an ICRC boat, from where the teams have to use small pirogues to be able to navigate on a small river during around 5 hours. The trip takes then two days from the closest main city - already considered remote by colombian standards.
The main goal of this ICRC field trip was to visit the small villages of Conquista and Negrito. People there had to flee recently due to fighting in and around their villages. When they went back they found their properties looted and destroyed, so the ICRC decided to help them in their return process through various agro programs, water and habitat activities, and support to medical structures.
