Description : Hamdi, 20, with her children Bache, 3 (left) and Fatuma, 4, have had a fever for many days and stopped eating, in addition to not having enough food because of soaring food prices. Despite her job as a vegetable seller from a farm and her husband's job as a builder, they cannot pay for enough food, as there is simply not food to buy.
- It gets worse every week, she says.
As a merchandiser herself she was one of the first to notice.
- I think it is even worse out in the district because much food was sent to the cities like here, but now we are running out of food as well, she says.
The experienced Red Crescent nurse Ruqio Diriye Hassan, 35, confirms this. We used to help local children with health and vaccines, but now in addition to treat internal displaced children for severe malnutrition we are also treating our own children, the children we have taken part in raising here in Harfo, she says.
