Inside “the wire”, cameras are strictly forbidden with the exception of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Guantanamo Command official photographers and some media, who are given very restricted access to film or take pictures under military supervision. ICRC got a special permission from the JTF to take photos during its visit. The JFT vetted them for operational security purposes.

On February 7, the ICRC completed its 100th visit to the United States detention facility at Guantanamo Bay Cuba, where its delegates have been monitoring the detainees' living conditions since 2002 in order to ensure that they are held and treated in accordance with international standards.
