Caption : Guantanamo Bay, United States detention facility. Nowadays, the ICRC conduct four regular visits per year, each lasting about two weeks plus ad hoc visits as needed. The teams are made up of both female and male delegates. n the early days, when ICRC delegates first arrived at Guantanamo (shortly after the first detainees were transferred there) delegates would stay for several months at a time.

On February 7, the ICRC completed its 100th visit to the United States detention facility at Guantanamo Bay Cuba, where its delegates have been monitoring the detainees' living conditions since 2002 in order to ensure that they are held and treated in accordance with international standards.
