Description :
The main humanitarian problems in town are the destruction of houses and public infrastructures, which impact the whole local population. The town also experienced a small influx of around 200 internally displaced families, a number that has been in constant fluctuation while fighting is going on in other area of eastern Ukraine.
These internally displaced persons have been coming from different parts of Donbass, but the bulk of them come from Donetsk region (Donetsk, Avdeyevka, Yasinovataya, Gorlovka, etc.). Most internally displaced persons arrived in August/September, but new internally displaced persons continue to arrive since. IDP families left their towns or villages after having their houses destroyed by shelling.
Many internally displaced persons are renting an apartment or house in Nikolaevka, some have moved to their relatives. There are single cases when the internally displaced persons receive accommodation free of charge from some volunteers. The local government is unable to provide proper facilities for the internally displaced persons but in some cases they can be hosted in old post-soviet dormitories or summer camps.
A previous ICRC distribution had taken place beginning of October 2014, during which the beneficiaries had received food for 1-2 months and blankets.
