Abu George-Issa relates: "I have three children, Noor, George and Joud. I was making upholstery in the furniture industry. Those were busy days. The fights in the old city of Homs, ruined our lives. Little George got scared every time when there was a loud sound of a blast. We had to console and calm him. Our house also got damaged, we had to run away, and we could leave with only clothes which we were wearing.
We moved from one place to another, changing locations twice. During those days I worked as a daily labourer trying different things to earn livelihood. Once the old city was opened for returnees, we came back. With support from the ICRC and Syrian Arab Red Crescent, I have now opened a tailoring shop in my house. Electricity is in short supply, so I use daylight to do my work. We are happy to be back, George is happy too since there are no more sounds of loud blasts, and we pray that it remains like this.
We wish that the country will be fine again and to live safely and the most important thing to me is that the kids live a safe and a happy life."
