Description : Franck was seriously injured by an explosive device he was handling out of curiosity with a friend. The object, found near a tire, exploded when they tried to break it, causing injuries to Franck's hand and arm. Despite his hospitalization and persistent pain, he maintains his childlike spirit and continues to play with his younger brother. This incident highlights the danger of explosive remnants of war that contaminate many areas in the Kivu region, endangering civilian populations, especially children. To prevent such accidents, the ICRC is working to identify and mark hazardous areas.
