Description :
The ICRC is taking action to prevent accidents caused by explosive remnants of war by identifying and marking contaminated areas. In March 2025, the ICRC launched an awareness campaign targeting community leaders, particularly in Mugunga, a heavily affected neighborhood in Goma. These sessions aim to teach safe behaviors in response to these often-overlooked dangers. Specialized demining NGOs have ceased their activities in North Kivu due to recent conflicts.
