Description :
Continuing conflict, poverty and the size of the country make it impractical to expect patients to travel to Kabul, so orthopaedic centres have been opened in the main regions to bring care to where it is needed.
For the disabled and for those who have lost limbs in the conflict, the seven orthopaedic centres operated by the ICRC across Afghanistan are their only source for artificial limbs, physiotherapy and wheelchairs, and for assistance in rejoining the educational system, society and the workforce.
