Description : ICRC programmes of phone and video calls and family visits are vitally important: they enable detainees to stay in touch with their relatives. The ICRC has a network of offices across Afghanistan to ensure that it can respond appropriately to the needs of those affected by conflict. Staff from the Lashkar Gah office also visit detainees, conduct first-aid training, run programmes to ensure that the war wounded can reach medical care, and assist families who have lost their homes or livelihoods as a result of the conflict.
