Description :
Residents of Enyele and Monzaya are now living in relative calm following the 2009 armed violence in the province. The violence that included killings, burning of homes and intimidation of civilians had forced many residents to flee and seek refuge on the other side of the Ubangui river in Likouala sector of bordering Republic of the Congo, in October 2009. According to government officials, nearly 115,000 people crossed the river.
In Dongo, teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have been assisting the local population, displaced persons and returnees since the violence began in 2009.
