Description : The prison holds roughly 2,600 people, more than three times its maximum capacity of 800.

Each room is ruled by a chief, also detainee. He runs the daily life in the room, deals with security and social order issues between inmates among other things. He also leads the evening prayer.
He is a part of a hierarchical system of detainees in wich the highest rank is chief of quarter. The chief of quarter runs between 200 and 1200 detainees.
Usually, the chief of room or the chief of quarter sleeps in a separate cell in the higer floors.
The last inmates arrived sleep on the ground.

The ICRC renovates the kitchens and the washing-place, builts new showers and latrines and clean up the old ones to improve the living conditions of the detainees.
