Description :
Mbaye, father of Assane, who disappeared in 2003 when he was 30 years old. His son was a farmer and told him he was leaving in search of fortune. His father never heard back from him. He prays every day that his son will come back home, never having had confirmation that he had died. He says that the ICRC and Senegalese Red Cross Society support group has given him "strength in God and helped him to accept the reality of his son’s absence".
Ramatoulaye, wife of Assane. She was left with three children. Traditionally, a wife waits 10 years before marrying again, but she waited only 5 years. It was her missing husband's father who took the decision. Now her new husband has also emigrated to Gambia, but she is not afraid he will go missing like her first husband because "he calls her regularly, and comes back home once a year".
