Description : Fatumata, mother of Alpha Omar, who was 18 when he went missing in 2009.
He asked his mother for permission to leave and although she did not want him to go, she saw him so fixed on the idea that she gave it to him.
A relative from a near village, whose son was with Alpha Omar, gave her the bad news. "It was very painful, and now I regret giving him authorisation but I also know I could not have done anything to stop him", she says. "I try not to think about him to be able to cope and have a normal life", she adds.
She attends an ICRC and Senegalese Red Cross Society support group which helps her because she listens to people with the same problems, she explains.
