Description : Elhadji, Chief of Colibantang village.
"A lot of young people have died trying to go to Europe by sea. And many of them get there and they don't manage to get papers and can’t even find a job, so they don’t send money to their families. However, those ones who fail can’t come back with empty hands, it would be a shame after all the money, time and effort they have invested. Once you get to Europe you have to stay and make money, there is no other way. I don’t know of a single case of a person coming back with nothing", Elhadji explains.
"People in Europe can afford to give many things to their children and even leave them a good heritage. However, us, we have nothing so we can't afford that, it's our children who have to help us", he says. He participated in the legal counselling session organized in November 2016 by ICRC and Senegalese Red Cross Society in Koumpentoum village, Tambacounda region.
