Description :
Maymun Ali Mohamed, 19, recently arrived at an informal IDP settlement near Dangoroyo after her livestock died. She sought "safety in numbers" among her community but now faces the daily struggle of putting food on the table for her two children. For Maymun, the drought has ended her family’s way of life. She admits the pastoralist lifestyle is becoming untenable for the next generation. In November, the Somalia Government declared a national drought emergency triggered by water shortages, livestock and crop losses, and large-scale displacement.
