Description : This girl was with an armed group until a bullet injury to her leg sent her to hospital for three months.

The girl's family has been located; and the ICRC is currently arranging, with her mother, to have her returned to her remote village once her leg is healed.

At the centre's orphanage, the ICRC helps unaccompanied children who were separated from their families during the armed conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It also helps girls who had been forcibly recruited into an armed group: the ICRC arranges, whenever that is possible, for these former child soldiers to be reunited with their families. ICRC staff visit them throughout this process, updating them on the situation as well as checking on their well-being.

The ICRC provides regular in-kind support to the Don Bosco centre, which currently has around 500 children who stay there; a total of 3000 children attend the school at the centre.
