Description : She was associated with an armed group before being injured by a bullet in her leg, which resulted in a three-month long stay in hospital.

The girl's family has been located, and the ICRC is currently liaising with her mother to arrange her transfer back to her isolated village once her leg is healed.

At the orphanage of the Don Bosco Centre, the ICRC helps unaccompanied children who were separated from their families as a consequence of the armed conflicts in the DRC, and girls who were formerly forced to join an armed group. The ICRC helps these former child soldiers to reunite with their families. Throughout this process, staff visit children, giving them regular updates on the situation as well as checking on their well-being.

The ICRC provides regular in kind support to the Don Bosco centre, which currently has around 500 children who stay there, from a total of 3000 children who attend their school. The ICRC is currently following more than 40 children, trying to locate their families.
