Description : On 27 April, the ICRC, acting as a neutral intermediary and at the request of the parties concerned, namely the Druze farmers of the occupied Golan, the Syrian authorities and the Israeli authorities, finished transporting about 4,300 metric tonnes of apples from the occupied Golan through the Kuneitra crossing. This was the second such ICRC operation. During the first, in 2005, the ICRC transported about 4,000 metric tonnes of apples.

On this photo: In coordination with the United Nations Disengagement Observation Force, which manages the Kuneitra crossing, three ICRC trucks loaded with Golan apples transported the produce of around 400 Druze farmers. The operation is thought to have benefited at least 2,500 Druze living in the occupied Golan.
