Description :
The ICRC concluded on April 27, the transfer of around 4.300 metric tons of apples from the occupied Golan through the Kuneitra crossing . The ICRC conducted this operation in its capacity as neutral intermediary, and at the request of the parties concerned, namely the Druze farmers of the occupied Golan, the Syrian authorities and the Israeli authorities. This was the second time that the ICRC successfully conducted this operation. The first time was in 2005, when some 4000 metric tons of apples were transported through the Kuneitra crossing point.
In coordination with the United Nations Disengagement Observation Force, which manages the Kuneitra crossing, three ICRC trucks loaded with Golan apples transported the apples of around 400 Druze farmers. This operation is estimated to benefit at least 2.500 Druze living in the occupied Golan.
