Description : The ICRC provided funds and materials to refurbish the derelict boats of fishermen who had been trapped behind a chain of Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip. This ICRC project that began in November 2005 focused on the rehabilitation of 19 Shanshullas, the biggest and most expensive fishing boats used by Mawasi fishermen. The Shanshulla were in an unusable condition after five years on a beach exposed to the sun and salt without maintenance.
