Description :
Sheina, 30, a victim of road bomb explosion, attends the Centre since 2011. She is a gold-medal winner in fencing and silver-medal winner in the shot-put at the 2012 National Iraqi Paralympics Games. Mariam, 18, who lost her leg due to childhood illness attends the Centre since four months. As she says, she followed Sheina and she loves it.

The Physical Rehabilitation Centre in the Wasiti neighbourhood in Kirkuk has been providing an essential treatment to its patient since March 2003. In addition to rehabilitation activities, the Centre - a member of the Iraqi Paralympics Committee - also runs vocational training, art and sport programmes. 65 disable athletes currently practice in the Centre sport disciplines such as basketball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis and wheelchair running. The Centre is well known of its high performance athletes, both male and females, as it currently proud to train Iraqi national gold medal winners in weightlifting, wheelchair basketball and fencing. The ICRC supports the Centre with prostheses, advanced wheelchairs adapted for sport activities, technical expertise and income-generating initiatives for its most vulnerable members.
