Description : The ICRC’s water-and-habitat project in Al Husseiniya covers six villages with a total population of 3,000, most of whom are Arab Sunnis living mainly from agriculture and animal husbandry. These villages, situated about 80 km south- west of the city of Kirkuk in the Hawija district of the Kirkuk governorate, are among the most remote places in the area. Because of the exceedingly uncertain security situation, the people of Hawija have been neglected and are without basic services. The ICRC has been working since 2010 to ensure their access to potable water of good quality.
