Description : Team of volunteers from the camel vaccination programme
In Dafur people predominantly rely of their camels, eating meat and milk; selling camels to buy cereals, camels are a sort of cash "capital" bank.

With the abundant rains of this year, they could stay (normally they migrate to the South) in the area although it means they are concentrated in one area which has consequences on water quantity and on grazing land.
The majority of the camels is now concentrated in Dar Zagawa and this concentration is due to the conflict which has made it impossible to use the migration routes.

It is 3 years since the camels have not been vaccinated.

At the end of the campaign 900 000 animals from heards of sheep, goats and camels were vaccinated mostly against Haemorrhagic Septicaemia. This disease is caused by bacteria who causes internal bleeding and the animals would then die very quickly.
