Description : Gérard a 24-year-old father of five sets down the hoes he collected for his extended family during an ICRC tools distribution in Bodoli. His sister is pounding the manioc that is spread out on the white tarpaulin while his wife, sitting to the right of the picture, looks on. The family has been living in this makeshift encampment in the forest for over a year. Gérard's groundnut and manioc fields are close by. The family survives on what they can grow, supplemented with forest fruits and other wild food. Gérard -- who was finishing school when his village was attacked -- wants to continue his education but feels too insecure to return home for the time being.
