These exercises are aimed at strengthening his muscles in preparation for receiving prosthetic limbs, which are expected to improve his mobility and overall functionality.
In the country, the ICRC supports three physical rehabilitation centers located in Juba, Wau, and Rumbek. These centers provide prostheses, crutches, and wheelchairs, as well as comprehensive clinical support, including physiotherapy sessions to help patients regain mobility, and psychosocial support. In 2025, more than 4,300 people benefited from physical rehabilitation services in these centers, representing a 30% increase compared to the previous year.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 300,000 people in South Sudan are in need of orthopedic and mobility care.
