Description :
They are among the 1,200 households of returnees that the ICRC assisted in September by providing them with essential household items.
In September 2025, the ICRC, in partnership with the South Sudan Red Cross , distributed food and non-food items to more than 7,200 returnees and internally displaced persons (IDPs). Since April 2023, more than 750,000 refugees from Sudan have fled to neighbouring South Sudan. This includes civilians who were displaced once before when conflict broke out in South Sudan, forcing them to flee to Sudan in the last decade.
The distribution provided essential relief to people displaced by conflict in Sudan and internal violence in South Sudan. The food items included sorghum, beans, cooking oil, salt and energy biscuits. Essential household items included kitchen sets, blankets, buckets, plastic sheets, mosquito nets, soap, sleeping mats, and dignity kits for women and girls.
