Description :
The manufacturing process involves several steps: measurements, molding and adjustments of the mold, followed by the creation of a socket ensuring comfort and proper fit. Once the trial socket is approved, the final prosthesis is produced. The ICRC has also supported the training of South Sudanese technicians in this field.
In the country, the ICRC supports three physical rehabilitation centers located in Juba, Wau, and Rumbek. These centers provide prostheses, crutches, and wheelchairs, as well as comprehensive clinical support, including physiotherapy sessions to help patients regain mobility, and psychosocial support. In 2025, more than 4,300 people benefited from physical rehabilitation services in these centers, representing a 30% increase compared to the previous year.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 300,000 people in South Sudan are in need of orthopedic and mobility care.
