Description :
Mujaheed's entire family, including his father and siblings, was killed when a bomb exploded near their home in Sudan at the start of the war. Rebecca, who was outside the house at the time, survived. However, Mujaheed was injured in the explosion. His hip was fractured, and he now has to use crutches to walk. His mother took him to the physical rehabilitation center to help him walk normally again, like any other child his age.
In the country, the ICRC supports three physical rehabilitation centers located in Juba, Wau, and Rumbek. These centers provide prostheses, crutches, and wheelchairs, as well as comprehensive clinical support, including physiotherapy sessions to help patients regain mobility, and psychosocial support. In 2025, more than 4,300 people benefited from physical rehabilitation services in these centers, representing a 30% increase compared to the previous year.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 300,000 people in South Sudan are in need of orthopedic and mobility care.
