Description : Muhammad was not quite 12 when he lost both his legs just three days before the 2006 war ended. He was riding on a motorbike with his father to bring food to people stranded in a nearby village. It hit a cluster bomblet. The child was badly burned all over his body and his legs had to be amputated. As he grows, he will need new prostheses every year. He is in the care of an ICRC-assisted limb-fitting and rehabilitation centre. Muhammad wants to study but has been at home since getting out of hospital. The local school says he is too old to resume his schooling, and that it has no toilets for disabled. Muhammad's family are poor Palestinian refugees who rely on the money brought home by Muhammad's mother, who works as a cleaner. His father has been unable to work since the accident.
