Description :
Mahmoud is Palestinian. He went to Indian-administered Kashmir to work in 1986, at a time when Lebanon was at war. There he was arrested and detained for 15 years as a suspected foreign combatant. The ICRC visited him in prison and finally secured his release in 2007. Now Mahmoud has started a new life, working as a labourer in spite of the health problems caused by his prolonged detention. He has married and hopes to have children. He believes "one should not look to the past, but to the present and the future".
