Description :
The conflict in Tripoli opposes militias, sects and neighbourhoods. It is a complex affair with roots dating back to the Lebanon's Civil War divisions. This latest round of fighting, which has started in early May 2008, peaked in July and August and still flares up, although on a much lower scale. The Armed conflict had originally broken out in early May in Beirut and spread to the north and other regions, with the then political opposition confronting the majority on the streets of the capital. The fighting quickly spilled over into Tripoli, putting some 150,000 inhabitants in danger
