Description :
During the war in the early 1990s Serob's family had to flee while he and other men remained to defend the village. His brother Hovsep who suffered from mental illness since childhood had been hospitalized in a town called Vardenis. But due to the war the hospital was forced to close, and patients were sent home. In June 1992, Koti was bombed, so Serob moved his family to safety to a town called Stepanavan. However, Serob's brother refused to stay there and wanted to return home with him. So they returned together. Soon after returning home, Serob went to fetch drinking water from a spring. Upon his return home Serob found his brother missing. As much as he tried he never found a trace of him and suspects that he must have wandered across the frontline.

In this photo Serob (left) and wife (right) greet an ICRC Protection Field Officer during a home visit.
