Description :
Each factory was dependant on the other to make the final product. Under Soviet central planning system, Armenia developed a modern industrial sector, supplying machine tools, textiles, and other manufactured goods to sister republics, in exchange for raw materials and energy. When the Soviet system collapsed so did this network of factories that depended on each other and many were forced to shut down as a result.
