Description :
The ICRC is working with psychologists from local NGOs who reach out to families with missing relatives. In addition to providing people with missing relatives an outlet for their loss, the program tries to help people with other social, medical and legal problems. Often families of missing people are isolated and not aware of their rights. The ICRC serves as an intermediary between them and the state authorities. Additionally, beneficiaries are introduced to other families with missing relatives who can offer mutual support. In Hasmik's case she has two official documents, one which says her husband went missing in 2007 and another that say he went missing in 1997. This discrepancy means she is not entitled to certain medical benefits and the ICRC is helping to resolve these administrative problems.
