Description :
This centre used to be a former administration building of the Iriston Hotel in Tskhinvali.
Valentina (left) is staying there with her nephew and her daughter (not in the photo). She is divorced and brought her daughter up by herslef since she was 1 year old. Now she is a young adult. Valentina will have an operation so that she no longer needs to walk with crutches. "I went for a first operation and when I came back, I found the whole place renovated. I was very pleased. It was the best surprise I could ask for."
Vasiljevna (right) used to be a school teacher for 40 years, she taught Russian and Ossetian. She moved there years ago, when her building was destroyed due to a fire. "I never thought my retirement would be like this. My health condition is such that I can't walk and need a cane, and I feel dizzy all the time. With my little pension I can't afford to hire someone to help me with some things I find difficult like washing myself".
All are Ossetian.
