Description : Up to now, the ICRC has only been able to resolve a handful of missing cases in Chechnya. There are currently approximately 2'100 open cases of missing persons reported to the ICRC in Chechnya. Most families in Grozny have missing relatives. Aina, Senior protection field officer at ICRC, has two cousins who are missing. She says that families spend a lot of time and money looking for missing relatives, travelling to distant places in the Russian Federation to follow up on rumoured secret prisons. People desperate to find their missing relative believe these rumours and try to find these places.
