Description :
Kursum (55), an ICRC beneficiary living with her husband and daughter's son. In 2003, her two of her sons (aged 21 and 26) disappeared in the middle of the night. They are missing since. Kursum says she thinks about her two sons every day, especially at night, and often has trouble sleeping. As a mother of missing facing economic hardship, the ICRC decided to include Kursum in the Micro Economic Initiative program. The ICRC gave her all the materials needed for a greenhouse (metal frame, gas stove, pipes and plastic sheeting). Kursum spends most of her day in her greenhouse, tending to her cucumbers, which she later sells. She says working in the greenhouse helps her forget for a while about her two missing sons. In this photo, ICRC EcoSec Field Officer, Laila Israpilova, inspects the greenhouse.
