Description : Northern Central African Republic is a part of the country that has only recently enjoyed relative peace. In 2007, following attacks from armed men, villages were looted and deserted. Villagers fled to neighboring villages or deep in the bush while some ventured to neighboring Chad for refuge. In this part of the country the ICRC and the Central African Red Cross Society are working to help people settle back into their villages. The nets allow villagers to catch enough fish to sell some. The bicycles can be used to transport this and other produce to sell in larger markets. In this way villagers are able to pay the modest fee for renting both. The communal funds are then reinvested back into the community.
